Why do cable riders often size up?
A longer board gives you more surface area and can provide greater stability and softer landings. Many modern park boards are specifically designed to be ridden longer.
Boat sizing
Boat boards are generally ridden shorter than modern cable
boards, with sizing influenced by rider weight, board shape
and riding style.

Between two sizes?
Going larger generally gives you more surface area, stability and softer landings. A smaller board can feel quicker and easier to move through spins.
Remember:
These are starting points, not hard limits. Board width, shape,
flex and the manufacturer's recommended rider range should also
be considered.
