Choosing Your Gear
What size wakeboard do I need?
Wakeboard size depends mainly on your weight, riding style and ability rather than height alone.
A slightly larger board generally offers more surface area, softer landings and easier starts, while a smaller board can feel more responsive.
There's no single perfect size for every rider, though. If you're unsure, use our Board Finder or get in touch and we'll help you choose.
What's the difference between a cable and boat wakeboard?
Cable boards are designed with cable-park riding in mind and are typically built to handle rails, kickers and other park features. They often have flexible constructions and reinforced bases.
Boat boards are designed around riding the wake behind a boat. They're generally stiffer and may feature moulded or removable fins and bottom features designed for grip, edging and wake-to-wake performance.
Some boards work well for both cable and boat riding, so check the individual product description or ask us if you're unsure.
Should a beginner buy a beginner wakeboard?
Not necessarily.
Beginner-friendly boards are usually predictable, forgiving and easy to control, but that doesn't mean you'll immediately outgrow one as your riding improves.
Your weight, where you ride and the type of riding you want to progress towards are just as important as your current ability.
What does wakeboard flex mean?
Flex describes how much the board bends.
Softer boards tend to feel playful and are popular for presses, rails and technical park riding.
Stiffer boards generally provide a more direct and powerful response and can offer greater control when edging or taking off.
Neither is automatically better — it depends on how you like to ride.
What is wakeboard rocker?
Rocker describes the curve of a wakeboard from tip to tail.
Different rocker profiles affect how a board carries speed, turns, releases from the water and generates pop.
You'll commonly see terms such as continuous, three-stage and hybrid rocker across our boards.
What's the difference between a wakeboard and a wakeskate?
A wakeboard uses bindings to attach your feet to the board.
A wakeskate is ridden without bindings, giving it a much more skate-inspired feel and allowing tricks where the board can move independently from your feet.
If you enjoy skateboarding or want a different challenge on the water, wakeskating is well worth trying.
Bindings & Compatibility
Will any wakeboard bindings fit any wakeboard?
Many modern wakeboards and bindings use standardised mounting systems, but not every combination is guaranteed to be compatible.
Insert spacing, hardware and older board designs can vary.
If you're buying a board and bindings from us and aren't sure they'll work together, contact us before ordering and we'll check them for you.
What size wakeboard bindings do I need?
Wakeboard bindings normally cover a range of shoe sizes rather than one exact size.
Check the sizing shown on each product page and choose the range containing your normal shoe size.
If you're between sizes or unsure about a particular model, ask us and we'll help.
Can I use cable bindings behind a boat?
Often, yes.
The distinction between cable and boat bindings isn't as rigid as it is with boards. The most important factors are compatibility, fit, support and the type of feel you want from the binding.
Impact Vests & Helmets
What's the difference between an impact vest and a life jacket?
An impact vest is primarily designed to provide impact protection while wakeboarding and participating in similar watersports.
Not every impact vest is an approved buoyancy aid or life-saving device.
Always check the individual product specification and use appropriate safety equipment for your activity and location.
How should an impact vest fit?
An impact vest should feel snug and secure without restricting your movement or breathing.
A vest that's too loose may move around while riding, while one that's too tight can become uncomfortable.
Check the sizing information on the individual product page or contact us if you're between sizes.
Should I wear a helmet wakeboarding?
We strongly recommend wearing an appropriate watersports helmet when riding at a cable park, particularly when using rails, kickers and other features.
A properly fitting helmet should sit securely without excessive movement.
Ordering & Delivery
How much is UK delivery?
UK delivery is £5.99 for orders under £100.
Spend £100 or more and UK delivery is FREE.
How quickly will my order be dispatched?
We aim to dispatch most in-stock orders placed on a working day the same day.
Orders placed later in the day, at weekends or on bank holidays may be dispatched on the next working day.
How long does UK delivery take?
Our standard UK delivery service typically takes approximately 2–5 business days after dispatch.
We primarily use DPD for UK deliveries.
Will I receive tracking?
Yes, where tracking is available we'll send your tracking information to the email address used when placing your order.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes.
We can ship many of our products internationally. Shipping costs depend on your location and the size and weight of your order.
Where a price isn't available automatically at checkout, contact us and we'll confirm the delivery cost.
International customers may also be responsible for local customs charges, import duties and taxes.
Returns & Problems
Can I return something if I change my mind?
Yes.
We offer returns on eligible unused products. We also provide a 30-day extended returns period for eligible products in addition to your statutory cancellation rights.

What if my order arrives damaged?
Contact us as soon as possible at grant@wakeshop.co.uk.
Keep the packaging and send us photographs of the product and packaging where possible. We'll help investigate the problem and put things right.
What if there's a fault with my equipment?
Contact us with your order number, a description of the problem and photographs or video where appropriate.
Products may also carry a manufacturer's warranty, and we'll help you with the process where applicable.
Your manufacturer's warranty is additional to your statutory consumer rights.
